Regulatory Amendments

Regulations are approved by the Ontario Government following public consultation and review by the Ontario Ministry of Health. The COO is authorized to make regulations under the section 95(1) of the Health Professions Procedural Code, which is Schedule 2 to the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991.

 

Approved Regulatory Amendments

Professional Misconduct Regulation (Ontario Regulation 828/93): Amendments to this regulation came into force July 1, 2024. Click here to read a summary of key changes. 
Registration Regulation (Ontario Regulation 32/24): A new version of this regulation, approved by the Ontario Government, came into force on July 1, 2024. This new regulation replaces Ontario Regulation 869/93. Click here to read a summary of key changes.

Proposed Regulatory Amendments

The following are proposed amendments to regulations under the Opticianry Act, 1991. Please note that these amendments do not come into effect until receiving royal assent from the Ontario Government.
