Professional Corporations

The Regulated Health Professions Act permits regulated health professionals to form a professional corporation. Opticians have the option to incorporate their practice in Ontario.

Opticians who wish to incorporate their practice would need to meet several requirements, among them:

  • All officers, directors and shareholders of the professional corporation must be opticians who are registrants of the College of Opticians of Ontario.
  • The professional corporation cannot carry on business other than the practice of Opticianry.
  • The name of the professional corporation must include the words "Professional Corporation" (or "société professionelle").
